A NEW SEASON...
Welcome everyone to the 2007/08 season and as always, we're full to the brim with hope and optimism.
A trophy in the cabinet, a cracking pre-season and a hatful of new stars has us now seen as a club of real potential.
Who'd every thought we'd ever be in this position?
One of the bookies favourites no less.
Of course, the SSBA has itself grown of late, with an enlarged fan base and with many people transferring from other areas of the stadium to join the fun.
It's been an encouraging start with noise levels already seemingly higher than last season, maybe we've found our voices and long may it continue. The louder the better.
I suspect that the volume could still be cranked up a notch or two. It's still early season and we're doubtless still warming up.
All the normal SSBA suspects are doing everything to keep the momentum going, top effort lads and lasses, and the recent addition of a drummer has maybe helped with the rhythm!
Allegedly, we can now be heard down in the darker corners of the west stand. That's a first.
It's also noted in despatches that Carlos and The Pope have moved to the north end of The West Stand to carry out some missionary work; good luck fellas and be careful out there.
What can we say about the Barmy West Stand Army; Bikka and his lads are currently having some fun with the order of their flags and it's all very reminiscent of Fawlty Towers.
So far so good on the pitch, with excellent performances against Millwall and Lincoln. Its wonderful to see Heff'n'Hayter notching up goals already, and Cammo also getting off the mark. With Richie scoring a cracker and Woodsy hiting the bar, the prospects look bright for the season. Fingers crossed .
It looks like an excellent following are off to Hartlepool and then its back to The Keepmoat to welcome The Cherries, and to show the team and management what support is all about.
