A warm, sunny afternoon in deepest cider country was the destination of the Rovers for their last away game of the season when they travelled down to Huish Park to play Yeovil Town, who need just three points to seal a play-off place. The Rovers had to make changes because Neil Sullivan returned to Leeds United at the end of his loan period, Craig Nelthorpe was suspended and James Coppinger was due to become a father over this weekend. Jan Budtz returned from his loan spell at Wolverhampton Wanderers to take over the goalkeeping position, Paul Green replaced James Coppinger and Sean Thornton came in for Craig Nelthorpe. Yeovil Town need the win today to assure a play-off place and a possible chance of promotion to the second tier of English football just four years after leaving the Conference. The Rovers defended the end where their fans were stood, the only uncovered Stand at the Stadium.

Yeovil started the game and had early possession but the Rovers made the first real threat on goal in the 6th minute when they forced the first corner of the game. Although this was cleared they came again, with Thornton giving the ball to Paul Green in the middle. A 25 yard left foot shot was easily saved by the giant Mildenhall. With ten minutes showing on the clock, Gray, for the home team, got to the right byline before hitting a low cross for Morris but his shot was blocked by Lockwood. The play continued as an even contest, with the Glovers claiming a handball on 16 minutes as Worley went to ground in the Rovers penalty area but it was clearly ball-to-hand as far as the referee was concerned. Halfway through the half and Thornton hit a 30 yarder low and wide then minutes later, the midfielders linked up well before Thornton gave to Roberts, who crossed for Guy to outjump his marker but saw his header go inches over the bar. A minute later and Morris, of Yeovil, cut in from the left as Worley lay injured on the floor before shooting from an angle across Budtz. The ball hit the far post and bounced back into the field of play. Past the half hour and Gray hit a cross from their right touchline halfway in the Rovers half that just cleared the bar before dropping on top of the net. On 36 minutes Yeovil won their first corner of the game but it was cleared and the Rovers defended stoutly to resist a period of pressure. With five minutes to go to the break, Thornton put a ball between two defenders on the Rovers left for Forte to run on to and cut in for goal. Mildenhall came out and stuck out a long leg as Forte tried to slip the ball past him, with the ball going out for a throw in. The Rovers were on the attack up to the break but only had a shot from distance by Stock and a corner to show for it. An even and entertaining first half came to an end with the score staying even at nil all.

The Rovers made a couple of substitutions at the beginning of the second half, with Liam Green and Sam Hird coming on for Paul Green and Jonathan Forte. Two minutes into the half and Hird, on the right of the halfway line put a through ball for Guy to take on. Getting into the Yeovil penalty area, Guy was tackled by Forbes, running in at full tilt and taking the ball off his toes as clean as a whistle, at the expense of a corner. Following the corner, Worley lobbed over the keeper but a defender managed to head out for another corner. Stewart then beat Lockwood in the air, leaving Lockwood holding his face, with Morris running on to the ball, evading a couple of tackles before he was closed down by Budtz, who blocked his shot, the ball going out for a corner to Yeovil. On 54 minutes, Stock gave to Wilson, who took the ball on before hitting a fierce drive from 25 yards that Mildenhall could only tip over the bar. Then a long punt out of the Rovers defence into an empty Yeovil half for Guy to chase. Mildenhall beat him to the ball but nearly made a mess of clearing it and presenting it to Guy. The keeper was relieved to see a Yeovil defender get the ball. Past the hour mark and Cohen put a free kick wide from 30 yards. Then a corner went to Yeovil and following it the ball was played back low into a crowded Rovers half and somehow found it's way to GRAY, who rifled it into the roof of the net as he was falling to the ground, after 73 minutes. Nothing daunted the Rovers immediately went on to the attack through O'Connor setting up Hird for a cross, with Roberts, in the Yeovil penalty area, getting in a shot that was charged down and cleared. The Rovers continued to have the better of the play as the home team seemed to settle for the one-goal win but they couldn't find a way through to the goal. An entertaining game, which the Rovers were decidedly unlucky to lose after playing so well. However, congratulations should go to Yeovil Town for securing a place in the play-offs.
