ROVERS MEDIA
Doncaster Rovers have a media department that has grown significantly in recent months.
Whereas before, the Rovers had one person running the club's media department - the significant growth of the football club from non-league to their current place in football's hierarchy has led to additional members joining the team to facilitate the demand for the Rovers media outlets.
Today, there are three members of the Doncaster Rovers team who work full time, however more members are employed to work match days - the busiest day for the Rovers' media department.
Steve Uttley is the Doncaster Rovers media manager, who accommodates all media requests, produces media material, organises press releases and conferences and overlooks the running of the entire media team. Steve is also the Doncaster Rovers official photographer - seen on match days circling the pitch capturing the memorable action that takes place on the pitch. The benefit of having a match photographer working for the football club in the media department is that the club has the largest possible photo database - providing the best imagery for the club's media products - including the official Doncaster Rovers website.
Chris Mortley, the most recent addition to the club's media department has been installed to manage DoncasterRoversFC.co.uk - the official website of Doncaster Rovers. Chris provides the latest news and reactions, in addition to exclusive interviews with the players, manager and staff. In addition to this, Chris also works with other departments within the football club to provide supporters with the latest information relating to departmental products and events. Whether it is new commercial offers or club/stadium related events, Chris will ensure that it is featured on DoncasterRoversFC.co.uk. In addition to this, Chris also works as a media officer for the Rovers, assisting and filling in for Steve in his absence.
Maz Ahmed is the third member of the full-time media staff at Doncaster Rovers. Maz started life at the Rovers as an IT technician, a duty that he continues today in addition to his media related roles. Maz now also works as a media officer, assisting in the running of the media department, however his new role coincides with the launch of the 'new-look' DoncasterRoversFC.co.uk. As part of the new Rovers World subscription service, not only will subscribers hear the latest commentaries and audio interviews, they will also be able to see post and pre-match interviews with the players and manager with new video footage. Maz is the video technician for Doncaster Rovers.
Doncaster Rovers pride themselves in having the very best in media facilities for both the local press of Doncaster and for those of visiting football press offices and away local media.
Doncaster Rovers home - the Keepmoat Stadium - has over 50 seats for the media in our press area. These seats are divided into sets of three, where there is a desk in front of them. In addition to this, all press seats are complete with ports and sockets to connect phones, Internet and radio equipment.
The press area is complete with a press room, located above the press box seats. The spacious area has desks running along the perimeter of the room, with phones for outgoing calls and a television receiving the latest League One results located within. Wireless Internet is also provided, however whether any laptops in the press box seats can pick up the wireless network will depend completely on individual wireless receiving strength. For the password for wireless Internet on a match day, please speak to any member of the Doncaster Rovers media team.
Refreshments are provided before the match and at half time, including a range of hot drinks and sandwiches.
Post match, respective football club media officers will bring team managers to the press room for interviews. Any further interviews required (players, chairmen etc.) can be arranged by speaking to a member of the Doncaster Rovers media team, however they may not always be possible. If interviews are required for visiting teams, press will need to request this from the visiting team's media officer.
Please apply for media and press accreditation by either writing to media manager Steve Uttley via the club address, e-mailing Steve at media@doncasterroversfc.co.uk, or by phoning Steve on 01302 764656. Anyone wishing to recieve accreditation will require the new Football League ID card or a valid DataCo form/number.
