THE GOAL WAS A BONUS - STOCK
The absence of Adam Lockwood through injury led to Brian Stock donning the captain's armband for the first time in his Doncaster Rovers career when the side took on Bristol Rovers at Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday. The midfielder was instrumental in the Rovers 2-0 win, slotting away the first of two penalties in the second half to seal the three points for the home side.
"It was pleasing to get the win," Stock admitted to Rovers World after the game.
"Bristol Rovers are a very good side and they made it difficult for us. You can see why they have gone on such a long unbeaten run. To get the three points today was a massive boost to us and an important three points to win."
"The manager said at half-time that it is not always going to be pretty football. I think that we showed the other side when we grinded out a result. The confidence is now high and we can now go away to Bournemouth on Tuesday evening and hopefully get another result there."
"I think that was the first goal that I have scored inside the box! They all count at the end of the season and I am more concerned about the fact that we got all three points - a goal was a bonus."
