Doncaster Rovers will kick-start their pre-season campaign against local side Rossington Main FC on Wednesday 9th July at Rossington's Oxford Street ground, kicking-off at 6:30pm.

The clash is part of the Rovers' commitment to the Doncaster community - and will not only allow the Rovers a good run out as they prepare for the tough season in the Coca-Cola Championship - but also give the players of Rossington Main the chance to pit their wits against the professionals.

Sean O'Driscoll has already declared that the entire Rovers squad will be present for the fixture - allowing supporters the first glimpse of the Rovers new signings; not to mention the first appearance by the promotion winning side of last season.

"Being involved with the local community is an important part of the football club," said the Rovers manager.

"It's a pleasure to take the team to face a local side and hopefully it will benefit both teams plus a chance for the supporters to see the team prepare."

Rossington Main are one of the oldest local non-league clubs, founded in 1919 as Rossington Colliery where they played on what later became a pony field behind the colliery offices. The Colliery, as they were later nicknamed, moved to their current Oxford Street ground in 1921. The name was changed to Rossington Miner's Welfare before altering again to the current name of Rossington Main in 1983.

In 1998, Rossington Main merged with Rossington FC and are currently managed by former Rossington player Ian Wilson.

The game is all ticket - with 1700 tickets going on sale at the Keepmoat Stadium Ticket Office on Monday 30th June at 09:00am - so tickets for the opening game of the pre-season schedule can be bought alongside tickets for the home friendlies against Scunthorpe United, Newcastle United and Bolton Wanderers.

300 tickets will be sold by Rossington Main FC at Rossington Welfare Club on Tuesday 31st June 2008 between 6:00pm and 8:00pm.

Tickets are priced at £5 for adults and £2 for concessions and are available on General Sale immediately. Proof of ID will be required for concession tickets.
