ROBERTS JOINS SADDLERS
Doncaster Rovers out-of-contract defender Steve Roberts has today signed for League One side Walsall.
The centre-half was offered a new deal at the Keepmoat Stadium, however the 28 year-old decided that his future lies at the Bescot Stadium, where he has signed for Jimmy Mullen's side on a two-year deal.
Roberts signed for Dave Penney's Doncaster Rovers back in 2005, joining the Rovers from home-town club Wrexham on a free transfer. The move united Steve with brother Neil, who was already at Belle Vue.
Roberts made 28 appearances for the Rovers in all competitions; adding solidarity at the back in the absence of Matthew Mills and Adam Lockwood.
The centre-half had a disappointing end to his season, after he damaged his knee towards the end of the campaign. As a result, Steve missed the back-end of the season and the League One Play-Off final at Wembley.
Everybody associated with Doncaster Rovers wishes Steve and his family the very best in the future.
