John Ryan: "It is a very important time at the moment."
"It is a very important time at the moment - but it is also frustrating, because the window doesn't open until the 1st June, everybody knows that we have put in a substantial bid for James Hayter and hopefully that is going to come through. I am hopeful, because I love the idea of having the "Heffern-Hayter" up front - I don't know who came up with that name, but if we have those two up front then I think that we have a real chance. Mark McCammon re-signing is great news also, giving us another dimension. It is great to see the team develop. I don't think that it is a great secret that we are talking to Neil Sullivan and one or two other quality players. We aren't wanting to bring in too many players, just a nice injection of quality throughout the side to achieve our goal which is promotion back to the Championship."
"We all know, and you have to be honest in life, is that if we don't go up - it's going to be harder to hang on to our better players - it always is. There's a lot of interest in players like Heffs and James Coppinger and people like this and these players want to play in the Championship. In all fairness, I think that they want to play there with Doncaster Rovers and that is why I think it is imperative that we get promoted this year. At the end of the day though, football is football. If we get a run of injuries like we did at the end of the last season, you are going to struggle. Let's hope that for once, we get a rub of the green and can really get up there and fulfil the last of my promises, which I will feel will make me the first chairman in history to deliver what he promised."
"Another factor keeping the talented players here is the fans and it's important that the fans get behind the team, which is why if you are thinking about buying your season ticket - buy it. Back me up a bit, because myself and the rest of the Board of Directors have had an arduous financial responsibility, which we have carried out well over the last few years. I think that the share capital of the club is in excess of 7 million now and it would be nice for everyone to do their bit - because it is a club and we are all in it together."
"Everything is now in place for more success. We spent about half-a-million in the last three or four years on the training ground, so we now have a first class training ground. Like I've said before, we still want to incorporate a gymnasium as well. We've obviously got a top class stadium now and we'll soon be enjoying our first full season in the Keepmoat. Whenever you change a ground, like Arsenal have found, it's difficult for the players because you find that the new stadium appears to buoy up the opposition more than us!"
"Now that the players and the staff are used to the Keepmoat, we will be raring to go at the start of the new season. I think that if we can get the supporters on our side by starting the season really well, which in itself will be a change, because even in our championship season we still had a bad start to the season, so I hope to change that. I hope that we can win a few games at the beginning of the season and get up there and stay up there, because I'm sick of us having to play catch-up all the time. That proves difficult a lot of the time, so let's get up there and stay there!"
"I think that we now have the ability to attract players with the facilities. In all fairness, I don't think we could even get near a James Hayter without having the stadium that we have now. I think that we have performed miracles to get some players in and now we can hopefully get players in easier. I think we are also going for a much higher quality player and I hope that the fans will realise this when we make the signings. If we can get regular gates of 10,000, then that would be fantastic. We need to be at that kind of level to be able to compete in the Championship."
