Doncaster Rovers started their New Year with a well-earned point at the Bescot Stadium, following a 1-1 draw against a fighting Walsall side. Despite the Rovers conceding the equalising goal 15-minutes from time, Rovers midfielder Brian Stock believes that the players and supporters should see it as a good result.

"We had mixed feelings, really. To go a goal up against a good side in Walsall; they're not up at the top of the League for nothing - it's not a false position for them for a start. They are a decent side and to get a point away from home - you have to be happy with that, really."

"I think that it was quite an entertaining game for the neutral. They had their chances and so did we. I think that we should be pleased with the point and I am sure that they are too."

The recent run of form that Doncaster Rovers have enjoyed is no surprise to the Rovers' new number 8, believing that everything that is done during the week is integral to the way that results come at the weekend.

"I think that if you go right through the management and if the fans can see what we do behind-the-scenes in terms of preparation and the way that we get ready for the game. Things such as the drinks that we drink and the methods we do - in the end it all pays off. If you look at the amount of games that we have played recently, the lads are looking fit and still have a lot of energy. I think that has done us well in the games that we have played."

Stock could have potentially sealed what would have been a win for the Rovers, when the midfielder let rip a rasping shot which dipped very late on - forcing Walsall 'keeper Clayton Ince into a fingertip save.

"I think that the shot was going in. I said to myself at half-time that I should shoot more. I could have had a couple of chances in the first half. There were a couple of chances in the first half where I passed it and probably shouldn't have. I should be shooting more regularly and I did take more chances in the second half."

The former-Bournemouth midfielder was also quick to praise the tremendous support that the Rovers received at the Bescot Stadium.

"The players need that kind of support. When things are going well, we need the support. When things aren't going so well - we need it even more! I think that the supporters were brilliant at Walsall and you could hear them all the way through the game. It was a positive for us and it stands us in good stead for the rest of the season."

With the Rovers out of the FA Cup, the weekend brings a welcome rest for Brian Stock and the rest of the Rovers staff; however Stock - who celebrated his 26th birthday on Christmas Eve - admits he's still at a loose end on Saturday afternoon.

"We get a few days off to rest our legs after quite a busy period as it always is. It gives us time to spend with our families and see the New Year in with them. I don't know what I will be doing on Saturday - I'm sure we will be seeing friends and family where we haven't been able to over Christmas as we haven't been able to get home. It will be a nice relaxing weekend before we take on Carlisle at the Keepmoat."
