Sean O'Driscoll's second purchase of the 2007 close season, the signing of Scottish under-21 Woods was a tremendous coup for the Rovers, who fought off competition from various other high-profile clubs to secure his signature.
A left-sided midfielder, Martin started his career as a trainee at Leeds United, spending a small period away on loan. However, Woods only made one appearance for the Elland Road club - ironically against the club he later went on to join - Sunderland. After one season with the Black Cats, Martin joined Rotherham United where he was a shining player in a season which spelt relegation for the Millers. Woods made 37 appearances for the Millmoor club, scoring 4 goals. Once again, his first goal came ironically against the club he would later join - after he rocketed the ball into the top corner of the net from 25-yards in a League game against Doncaster Rovers.
A fantastic passer of the ball with an eye for shooting from distance, Woods adds a further attacking dimension to an already impressive midfield.
