Matthew Mills joined Doncaster Rovers in August 2007 on a six-month loan deal from Premier League side Manchester City.
A promising young centre-back, Mills played for Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll whist he was manager at Bournemouth. After a takeover at Manchester City, including the appointment of former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, Mills and club felt that a loan move would be beneficial. As a result, the 20-year old chose to come to Doncaster.
The Swindon-born defender started his career at Southampton, failing to break into the first team. As a result he spent spells on loan to Coventry and Bournemouth. Matt was transferred to Manchester City after a change of management at St. Mary's. Although spending a spell on loan to Colchester in 2007, Matthew has made headlines in the City reserve team and will be looking to use his loan spell at the Rovers to gain some first team experience.
