Sam Hird was another of manager Sean O'Driscoll's 2007 close season signings, after the young defender joined the club after being released by Leeds United.
Doncaster-born Hird was another player who spent a period on loan to the Rovers last season - impressing the management team and supporters alike with his work ethic and versatility.
Rovers supporters were able to witness this versatility in the final game of the 2006/07 season, where a series of injuries to the Rovers strike-force led to the defender playing as a make-shift striker.
Hird signed a one-year deal and will be hoping to impress Sean O'Driscoll in the forthcoming season in a bid to establish himself as a regular for Doncaster Rovers.
