Gareth arrived at Keepmoat Stadium on the deadline day of the January transfer window during the 2007-08 season.
The striker signed an initial loan deal with a view to a permanent move to South Yorkshire from fellow League One side Tranmere Rovers.
The 34-year old striker signed for Tranmere Rovers from Nottingham Forest in 2006 with 12 international goals for Wales to his name.
Gareth has also scored well over 100 goals in a career that has seen the striker enjoy spells at Manchester City and Sheffield United; however it was at Southampton where Taylor started his career.
Gareth joined Bristol Rovers in 1991 before being signed for £1.25 million by Crystal Palace in 1995.
A centre-forward with bags of experience, Gareth Taylor is sure to add strength to the Rovers' strike force; however it has not been unknown for the 6'2'' striker to play as a centre-half when called upon.
