COMMUNITY SCHEME RE-LAUNCHED
Doncaster Rovers Community Scheme re-launched itself as the Doncaster Rovers Community Sport and Education Foundation at a fantastic launch party at the Keepmoat Stadium on Thursday evening.
The launch was a re-invention of the vitally important Rovers in the Community scheme into a charitable organisation, which will now continue the outstanding work that the team based at the Keepmoat Stadium does with children all across Doncaster and the surrounding areas.
In attendance were Doncaster Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll and members of the training ground staff, Mickey Walker and members of the local business community who have been integral to the growth of the Doncaster Rovers Community Scheme.
The evening kicked off with an address by Community Manager Eric Randerson - himself part of the Rovers in the Community scheme for the best part of 20 years - explaining the importance of the football club integrating with the children of Doncaster and the vital necessity for the Community to give their backing.
Following on, a DVD produced by the Rovers Media Team - highlighting the scheme's work in schools and children's visits to the Keepmoat Stadium - was shown, inclusive of speeches from Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll on how much the first team are behind the work that Eric and his team do throughout the town.
Mickey Walker - who has been part of the Club for a similar length of time as Eric Randerson - delivered a speech in typical Mickey Walker fashion. However, what followed was a glowing tribute to the team who work tirelessly to spread the word of Doncaster Rovers and get children feeling healthy and active in their way of life.
Afterwards, guests celebrated the work that Eric, Richard and his team have done so far - and the hard work that they are committed to deliver in the future.
A key factor that was emphasised was how appreciative the Rovers Community Sport and Education Foundation are of any local company who can give their backing to the scheme.
