Doncaster Rovers Youth side continued their unbeaten start to 2008 with a decent 3-1 win over Scunthorpe United Youth at Cantley Park on Saturday.

Played in cold and windy conditions, the victory added another dimension to the Youth side's ability - not performing to their best, yet still churning out the results needed to maintain the brilliant league position that Paul Wilson's side have reached so far this term.

"It was good to follow on from the great win against Hull last Saturday," Paul told DoncasterRoversFC.co.uk.

"I feel that we didn't play as well as I would have hoped, if I'm being honest. It was not our best performance and I don't think that we played to our full potential. At the same time, there is the aspect that if we can play like that and still get the points and the results that we need, then that is great. But at the same time, like I have said, the performances need to be better than what we showed against Scunthorpe and we will show that when we play Hartlepool United next Saturday."

Scunthorpe United took the lead on the brink of half-time, when a miss timed attempted clearance by Andrew Hawksworth ended up in the back of his own net.

It took until the 75th minute for Rovers to get back into the game, with Ali Henderson hitting home to put the Rovers level. Andrew Boyce put the Rovers ahead five minutes later, with Waide Fairhurst rounding the Scunthorpe 'keeper at the dead to seal the points and the win.
