Doncaster Rovers youth side suffered defeat on Saturday, as Paul Wilson's side lost 2-1 against Darlington at Cantley Park in the Puma Youth Alliance.

Included in the starting line-up were defender Andrew Boyce and striker Waide Fairhurst, who both discovered they will be offered professional contracts for next season last week.

With heavy rain falling in cold conditions, the Rovers were set back early in the game, with Darlington's Daniel Grooves netting the first goal of the game on the fourth minute - a goal which gave the visitors the lead going into the half-time break.

The second half bought a second goal to the game - however it was to Darlington, who extended their lead on the 57th minute. Adam Gladwin the man on the score sheet for the Quakers.

Ten minutes later saw the Rovers change things around, with Valentino Sheilis and Luke Duffy coming on for Scott Bibby and Joe Conkleton respectively.

The Rovers pulled a goal back with five minutes left in the contest, with Jason Hardy putting the ball in the back of Darlington 'keeper Josh Moody's net.

However, the goal was to be a consolation as the away side held on for the win.
